BITS Fraud Risk Management Position
BITS, the technology policy division of The Financial Services Roundtable, seeks a fraud risk management professional to lead the BITS Fraud Reduction Program. BITS addresses issues at the intersection of financial services, technology and public policy, where industry cooperation serves the public good, such as critical infrastructure protection, fraud prevention, and the safety of financial services. The Financial Services Roundtable members are 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies providing banking, insurance, and investment products and services to the American consumer.
Position Overview:
The fraud risk management professional will lead the BITS Fraud Reduction Program primarily defining, managing and implementing member-identified projects, including:
- Developing best practices, successful strategies, and guidelines, white papers, and advisories;
- Identifying trends and examining risks associated with current and evolving fraud trends;
- Convening information sharing forums; and
- Fostering collaborations with key stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, federal regulators, and technology service providers.
Specific focus areas of the BITS Fraud Reduction program include:
- Reducing fraud in mortgage, payments and other key product areas through development of improved prevention guidelines and best practices;
- Improving collaborative information exchange opportunities through industry and law enforcement channels; and
- Improving industry’s ability to perform effective identity management of customers through partnership with federal and state agencies providing identity credentials.
Duties:
The fraud risk management professional will report to the Executive Vice President of BITS. Duties may include the following:
- Collaborate with members to identify initiatives of interest;
- Schedule and facilitate meetings and conference calls, identify and arrange for speakers for meetings, and document key outcomes;
- Work with the members to define the scope and deliverables of projects;
- Manage projects of the Fraud Reduction Program by developing project plans/timelines, convene project meetings, maintain issues logs, document process flows, write business requirements, monitor/track progress and drive the completion of successful deliverables; and
- Provide updates on projects to BITS management and member leadership, keeping them informed of key activities and status of the project.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the financial services industry, effective risk management practices, applicable regulatory/supervisory requirements, fraud tactics used to perpetrate fraud through multiple channels and successful fraud mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated skills in project management, including effective planning, tracking and reporting for large scale projects involving multiple constituencies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking at conferences.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with BITS member community and staff colleagues and provide strong customer service and foster a community of professionals.
- Capacity to multi-task and strong work ethic.
Education:
Minimum of a B.S./B.A. in related risk management, technology or business field required. Advanced degree preferred but not required. Certification in project management (e.g., Certified Project Manager, Project Management Professional) strongly preferred but not required.
Location:
Washington, DC - Financial Services Roundtable Offices, 1001 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20004. Some travel may be necessary to attend and/or speak at conferences or meetings.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience. Exempt status.
